Hauler Licensing

A hauler's license is required for any person to collect, transfer, or transport solid waste generated or delivered within the Chittenden Solid Waste District (CSWD). This includes commercial haulers, CSWD municipalities, and businesses and institutions which haul over 12 tons of their own solid waste in a calendar month. Licenses expire annually on July 1.

Self-haulers who transport less than 12 tons of solid waste in a calendar month are exempt from obtaining a hauler's license. For complete information on hauler licensing requirements click here to download the licensing excerpt from the CSWD Solid Waste Management Ordinance.

Hauler License Application Procedure
To obtain a hauler's license please download and complete the Hauler's License Application . Please complete both sides of the form and return with a certification of insurance, copies of vehicle registration, a copy of the Vermont Waste Transportation Permit (if applicable), and a check or money order made payable to CSWD in the amount of $10.00 per vehicle. Note: CSWD municipalities are exempt from the fee.
