Entries for 2009 Creative ReUse Showcase have been submitted, the judges have cast their votes, and the winning art pieces have been decided.

Come check out the winners and other selected art pieces on display at Frog Hollow in Burlington, from January 30 through February 18, 2009. You can also join us at the Awards Bash on February 18 where all eight category winners plus the People's Choice Award will be announced and awarded their prizes .

The Chittenden Solid Waste District (CSWD) received 105 entries for this year's Creative ReUse Showcase, a recycled art contest open to all high school students in Chittenden County. This was the 13th year that CSWD sponsored the event. In addition to the eight award winning pieces, more than 40 entries were selected to be on exhibit at Frog Hollow's Church Street gallery.

This year entries were received from six Chittenden County High Schools including: Burlington High School, Champlain Valley Union High School, Essex High School, Mt. Mansfield Union High School, Rock Point School, and South Burlington High School.

CSWD sponsors the Showcase every year as a way to promote recycling and waste reduction in the Chittenden County community. Our goal is to get people to think about the whole concept of waste. Seeing art made from what most of us would consider junk can help people realize that waste is a choice.

Please visit our virtual gallery to see photos of entries from past Creative ReUse Showcases. (The 2009 photos will be uploaded soon!)
