Entries for the 2009 Creative ReUse Showcase NOW being accepted!
For the 13th consecutive year, we are challenging Chittenden County high-school students (grades 9-12) to re-envision their concept of trash and compete for prizes in nine categories for the Creative ReUse Showcase, a contest where students take material they might normally consider trash and use it to create works of art.

Last year we received 100 entries from eight high schools in Chittenden County, and the caliber of contestants was off the charts.

To view entries from past Creative ReUse Showcases, visit our Virtual Gallery.

The Creative ReUse Showcase is a recycled art contest open to all Chittenden County high school students. Students are invited to make art, fashion accessories, or practical items from used, surplus, or found materials. The basic idea is to take what most people would call "junk" and make something creative from it!

Students creating the most outstanding entries will win prizes and/or be included in a special exhibit at Frog Hollow in Burlington from January 30th through February 18th. Students may choose to sell their creations during the exhibit.

PRIZES: One entry will be selected as the winner in each of the categories listed below. Each winner will receive a $100 gift certificate or a prize equal in value to $100 from the local business co-sponsor listed below. This year the grand prize will be awarded to the winner of the Artistic Alternatives category and will receive a check for $200.
