School budgets are tight everywhere. As a result, many students and parents are asked to participate in school fundraisers. Too often, this means selling overpriced candy bars, carmel corn, or other items that are essentially unhealthy and unwanted. What is this really teaching our children?

The Paper Project fundraiser. Students will learn about the benefits of using recycled paper and then spread the word to families and friends throughout the community. Terracycle , an eco-capitalism company, takes one person's trash and turns it into treasure. You know all those Dorito Bags, Oreo wrappers, and Capri Sun pouches generated at school? Terracycle provides a way for people to collect them, send them in and earn money from them. Terracycle will turn those wrappers into useful products such as purses, bags and pouches.
