CSWD offers a variety of free programs to help improve the environmental profile of your school. Students have a chance to participate in activities that focus on waste reduction and the benefits of reusing, recycling, composting, and other environmentally friendly habits. Our programs are tailored to any age group and include educational materials for students to share at home.
Facility tours including the Materials Recovery Facility and Intervale Compost Products
Videos are available on a two-week loan
Recycled paper-making kit is available on a two-week loan
Technical assistance utilizes an educational experience to help bring your school into compliance with mandatory recycling rules (check out this public service announcement created by Edmunds Middle School students)
Composting assistance includes free worm bins, outdoor bins, cafeteria compost set-up, and information
Environmental Club start-ups are easy! Meet with a CSWD specialist to figure out the best way to start a stewardship, recycling, or composting club at school
High School Environmental Club consultation is a great way for teens to share project ideas and learn how to take action at school and in the community.
Sustainability Scorecard looks at the sustainable practices and initiatives being undertaken by different school divisions including the classroom, the cafeteria, the administrative office, and the custodial department.
TOLD (Trash on Lawn Day), an event designed by the Association of Vermont Recyclers, helps schools sort the trash generated and collected from one day into different categories to help assess its true waste stream.
