Items Banned From Landfills

The CSWD Ordinance requires that all residents and businesses separate the following items from their landfill-bound trash for proper disposal.

Air conditioners, boilers, dehumidifiers, dishwashers, dryers, freezers, fridges, furnaces, microwaves, stoves, trash compactors, copiers, washers, water coolers, and water heaters. Fees apply.
CSWD Drop-Off Centers
BATTERIES (non-alkaline)
Button cell, lead acid, lithium, nickel cadmium and other rechargeable, mercuric oxide, and silver oxide. Alkaline batteries are not hazardous and may be thrown away with your trash.

Used automotive oils. Any oil that is contaminated with water or other fluids must go to the Environmental Depot.

Latex, oil and water-based (unless water-based paint is dried and less than one gallon). Paint thinner, paint remover, stains and varnishes are also banned.
