Recycling and Composting at Special Events
Planning a family reunion, company picnic, graduation or wedding celebration, community event or any other type of party or gathering where food and beverages will be consumed? CSWD can help by loaning you containers and providing information and signs to encourage proper waste management at your event.

Call the CSWD Hotline at 872-8111 or email us at info@cswd.net if you need to borrow some bins for your next event.

Also, always keep "the three Rs" (reduce, reuse, recycle) in mind when planning your event. To the extent possible, start thinking about waste management at the beginning of the event planning process. Initial questions to ask include:

1.) How can the least amount of waste be generated?
(Bottle-Free events are one way to REDUCE waste in a BIG way! The Kick the Bottle Campaign based in Burlington has an informational blog to help you plan a bottle-free event!)
2.) What materials will the event generate?
3.) What materials can be recycled or composted? Are you going to use compostable ware?
4.) Who will pick up the recyclables and compostables?
5.) How much will it cost?
6.) How will the materials generated be separated and collected?
7.) How will event vendors, exhibitors, and attendees be informed about the waste management program, and the efforts the event is taking to be "green?"
