The McNeil Plant is now operating on its summer schedule.
Summer (mid-April through mid-November): Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, open from 8-4. Closed on Sunday, Monday and Wednesday.
Winter (mid-November through mid-April): Tues-Fri 8-12; Sat 8-4; Closed Sundays
NOTE: There is a limit of 6 cubic yards of leaf and non-woody yard debris per trip (leaves and trimmings, with twigs no larger than 1/2 inch in diameter).
The Wood & Yard Waste Depot accepts clean wood and yard debris at no charge. Dumping mechanisms are allowed. This facility is owned and operated by the Burlington Electric Department. For more information, visit the McNeil Wood & Yard Waste Depot website.
SPECIFICATIONS
Clean Wood
Clean wood is mulched or burned as fuel next door at the McNeil Generating Plant.
- Lumber and pallets that have never been painted, stained, treated, or glued, maximum 8 feet in length
- Tree limbs, trunks, stumps, and brush; 1/2 inch to 2 feet in diameter, max 6 feet in length; free of dirt and stones.
Yard and garden debris
Yard and garden debris deposited at the McNeil Depot is transported to the Green Mountain Compost facility in Williston.
– Small twigs and yard and garden debris such as leaves, grass, clippings, trimmings, garden plants, etc. Woody twigs up to 1/2 inch in diameter are also allowed. Larger wood should be deposited in the “clean wood” area.
