Green Mountain Compost
Phone: 802-660-4949
Hours: Monday through Friday 8:00 am – 4:00 pm for drop-off only. While we are still making compost, we are not selling soil products or compost in the 2013 gardening season.
Tip fee: $37.50 per ton for commercial haulers; No fee for residential and household food scrap drop-off.
Green Mountain Compost accepts food scraps and yard debris (e.g. leaves, grass clippings, and plant materials – including woody trimmings up to 1/2″ in diameter) for composting from residents, restaurants, hotels, hospitals, grocery stores, schools, and other businesses and institutions in Chittenden County and beyond.
These valuable scraps are mixed with yard debris, farm manure, and wood chips to produce a nutrient-rich soil amendment that nourishes local farms and gardens and keeps these feedstocks from being wasted in Vermont’s landfills. (Yard debris is banned from landfill disposal in Chittenden County.)
