At the copier, printer or computer:
- Make double-sided copies
- Have all office printers set to duplex printing to print on both sides
- Print draft documents on scrap paper or paper already printed on one side
- Adjust margins or fonts to fit more words on a page
- Consider using half a sheet of paper for short memos or documents
- Edit documents on the screen
- Don't print emails
In the lunchroom:
- Use reusable cups, mugs, dishes, & flatware
- Bring a reusable mug for beverages
- Save flatware for reuse
- Pack lunches in reusable packaging or containers
- Use cloth towels or napkins instead of paper
- Compost food scraps
Reduce and Reuse:
- Use voice-mail or e-mail instead of hard copies to make announcements
- Post announcements on bulletin boards
- Route one copy of a document to multiple people
- Use scrap paper for phone messages and notes
Purchasing:
- Purchase office products made from post-consumer recycled content to help complete the recycling loop,and to create more demand for recyclables
- Avoid using colored paper whenever possible - white paper is more valuable when recycling
- Make reusing file folders easy by purchasing labels
- Save large mailing pouches for reuse - purchase large address labels to cover the old address
