Recycling is mandatory for all businesses in Chittenden County. In January 2005, CSWD revised its Solid Waste Management Ordinance to promote increased recycling. For highlights of how the revisions relate to businesses and landlords, click here.
Haulers are required to provide recycling services along with trash services to their customers in Chittenden County. Occasionally, a business may prefer to market recyclables directly or deliver them to a recycling facility themselves. If your business elects to refuse recycling services provided by your hauler, you must provide evidence to CSWD that you are in compliance with CSWD's mandatory recycling requirements by completing this Recycling Service Exemption Form and agreeing to a visit by CSWD staff. Please e-mail the completed form to enforcement@cswd.net or mail it to CSWD, attn: Enforcement.
To help businesses comply with current mandatory recycling laws, CSWD provides a variety of assistance.
